Elanora Heights
Brief: A simple indoor outdoor entertainment area
The brief was to keep the entertaining area as open and simple as possible.
Things to bear in mind were the client’s activities.
Eating
Drinking
Playing pool
Watching movies
The occasional sauna
Maintenance
Low maintenance inside and out (e.g. hose the inside out after a party)
The walls are double brick with internal walls rendered with painted finish.
Floors are tiled and the kitchen is mobile and stainless.
Furniture is waterproof
Orientation and comfort
Take in the views over Narrabeen Lake and the ocean beyond
Structure faces north east
Stacker doors retract to open up entire north east face
Generous eaves ensure shade, with thermal mass provided by floor, roof and walls.
A pyramid roof allowed for ease of construction while maintaining the pool house feel.
Summary:
A simple structure that is in harmony with the current house but keeping the South Pacific thatched hut style.
